Autumn Vegetable Beef Stew

salt 1 teaspoon
pepper 1/4 teaspoon
paprika 1/4 teaspoon
round steak, cut into 1-inch cubes 1 pound
canola oil 1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
water 1-1/2 cups
onion, chopped 1 medium
tomato sauce 1/2 cup
beef bouillon cubes 2
caraway seeds 1/2 teaspoon
leaf 1 bay
potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes 2 medium
turnips, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes 2 medium
carrots, cut into 1-inch slices 2 medium

Directions –


  1. Combine salt, pepper and paprika; toss with beef. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown beef in oil. Sprinkle with flour; stir well. Add water, onion, tomato sauce, bouillon, caraway seeds and bay leaf. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  2. Add potatoes, turnips and carrots; cover and simmer 45 minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender. Discard bay leaf.
